LUDEFO Development Programmes - Summary

LUDEFO Programme Achievements

Based on the manifestations and charters of the LUDEFO Constitution, the LUDEFO Executive committee and its members have decreed to contribute towards the development of our beloved home district of LUDEWA.

In the same spirit, the members of Ludefo, led by the Executive Committee, have made substantial contributions towards the development of our district. The development participatory contributions and their impact are documented in this report.

Contributions are raised directly from the executive committee and the members, or through fund raising, or by soliciting funds from well-wishers, both locally and internationally. In all cases material contributions are equally appreciated and are put to use in the District's various programs.

Our priority target areas are:

1. Education
Enhancement of
• Primary,
• Secondary,
• Technical Secondary Schools,

Education, through
• Sensitization,
• Improvement of buildings, and Provision of teaching
• Materials and aids,
• Teacher salaried and incentives, and

Establishment of Teachers' training sponsorship under which we have trained
• To 42 teachers,
• More than 10 University graduates,
• 14 Diploma Graduates and
• 3 Grade A teachers.

LUDEFO in colaboration with Afrika Hilte annually provides scholarships to over 130 Students
• Privileged students at A and 0 levels.

LUDEFO lobbied the Government Into
• In 1999 we were able to lobby the Government into selecting Ludewa district to benefit from the Primary Improvement Program
UNICEF.

The program consisted of
• Primary School Buildings Improvement,
• Provision of Teaching materials, and a
• Scheme for upgrading of Teachers.

On our part we continued to support the on going projects to improve
• Madunda and
• Lugarawa Primary Schools, as well as support them
• Financially.
• In addition we support Madunda, Manda, Ulayas, Masimbwe,
Ludewa and Lugarawa Secondary Schools.

LUDEFO Brings I.T. to LUDEWA
• LUDEFO did not forget to introduce the IT concept or computing into its School Projects.
• Masimbwe has been supplied with an ultra modem computing system Which enables the schools do Correspondence, accounting,
• Computer Aided Designing and drawing in addition to Training.

Health
• Since health was our priority agenda, we made special efforts in improving health services by providing
• Training to Health personnel,
• Providing modem and appropriate clinical equipments, ranging from
• Medicines,
• Hospital uniforms,
• Beddings,
• Hospital curtains, and storage facilities.

In our deliberate and calculated efforts to form a sound foundation in the sector, we Sponsored
• Training of a Laboratory Technician at higher Diploma qualification, one
• Clinical Assistant and Medical Assistant

Besides equipping our hospitals and training of Medical personnel, we have sourced and supplied:
• Hospital Medicines and even essential and special medicines against Bilharzias.

Comunication
LUDEFO has pioneered the development scheme by lobbying the Government into Undertaking;-Road construction and road improvement schemes in the District, as well as providing financial assistance for road construction on self help basis and soliciting for international aid for marine / water engines for powering transportation on the Lake.

Assistance to centers for the Disabled
Under the LUDEFO Constitution we have mandated ourselves to provide for our disabled with facilities to enable such centers care for the totally invalids and provide material for the disabled who can produce.

In Ludewa District there are two such centers and both receive substantial assistant both in monetary and material forms.
